Advanced Apprenticeships
The Advanced Apprenticeship is suitable if you have already completed an Apprenticeship or equivalent and are aiming to work in a supervisory role, planning and organizing your own work.

You are eligible if you are over 16 and working in a childcare setting.
You should be in full time employment, and most of your training is through work based learning (i.e. on-the-job). In addition, every two weeks you will attend day release session at our training centre in Exeter.
Achieving the Advanced Apprenticeship means that you would get a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's workforce (equivalent to A levels), and Key Skills at level 2 in Communication, ICT and Application of Number. You also get training in paediatric first aid, and in employment rights and responsibilities.
If this sounds like a lot to take on, don’t worry – most of your learning and assessment takes place on-the-job, and you get plenty of support from your tutor and assessor.
It usually takes 12 to 15 months to get an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Costs: Government funding is generally available for 16 to 18 year olds. Partial funding is available for older learners, with employers meeting the remaining costs. Government priorities for education may change, and it is possible that older learners may have to meet some costs in the future. Please contact us for more information or to discuss your specific requirements in confidence.
Progression: If you are planning to go to university or move into a more managerial position, then the Level 3 Diploma is a good alternative to A'Levels. You can use it to work as a childminder, a day care supervisor, a pre-school supervisor or a family support worker or classroom assistant. You can also go on to undertake CACHE level 3 CPD, or to go on to level 4 qualifications.
